Some seaweed food products: Nori, Sushi, Kombu and Wakame
Seaweed food products (produk makanan rumput laut) are popular food in Japan. In this country, there are 3 prominent seaweed products called nori, kombu and wakame. Nori is made from porpyra plant, kombu is made from laminaria plant and undaria plant is used for making wakame. We can eat nori sheet directly or sushi wrapped by nori, sometimes they eat dried kombu and wakame directly or cooking together with misoshiru (Japanese Soup), fish soup, etc. The other fresh seaweed plants are served as salad, i.e., Meristotheca papulosa, Grape Caulerpa (umi fudo) etc.
Note:
The other products are made from general seaweed plants, i.e., food industry (bakery, soup, sauce, ice cream, jelly, sweets, fruit cocktails, cheese, pudding, jam, beer, wine, coffee and chocolate), pharmaceutical industry (laxative, covering of antibiotics and vitamin capsules and tooth mould material), cosmetic industry (salve, cream, lotion, lipstick and soap), textile industry (protect the luster of silk, etc.), leather industry (firming soft surfaces and softening stiff surfaces and as plywood sticking agent), and other industries (film plates, toothpaste, shoe polish, filler for fish transportation, meat and fishery canning).
